Shall we hike?

BLOG OVER-LAP from DEAR COUNTRY MOUSE…

Today I snuck away from the truck early to hike a small round of Sauvie Island. It is mostly a large meadow with old oaks covered in moss and lichen.  We were met by cows as we drove up the gravel road to park...

It has been a while since I was is such a wide open field and it made me want to run and jump like a pony...
I took extra special care to stop and capture pictures of mushrooms. I figure if we ever manage to shrink, we'll need to have made our acquaintance with most of these lovely specimens… Which one shall we live under? Or we can keep looking for one with a wider brim…

Hope you are having a good week!

Sending love,

One Treat After Another…

It is here, it has arrived, my newest book, One Treat After Another, has officially been released! We had a little trouble getting it out the door, there were cover problems and then a print mishap which led to the book coming out a month after its original release date. But now, hurray, here it is…
Thank you to Mayo, at Escargot Books, who so patiently helped the process through, the book is now possible to order on Amazon, and will be available at other major bookshops soon…

Please go check it out… I am so excited, this book was made when my kiddos were little, which is quite a few years ago as the planet turns, and only now is finally in print form. Amazing how time and space are always trying to catch up with intention—
A rainy-day Monday, and bursting with the motion of forward, onward…

                                                                Hope Everyone is well!

Spring, I love you!

Well I'm sitting in the pie truck, spring rain pouring down, I can't tell you how much I love this time of year. I loved it when I lived in dry, hot California; all the blooms and the still green wild grass, but I love it even more here, in beautiful Northern Oregon…
I get serious Beatrix Potter fever—the intense desire for plant pots, damp earth and wet laundry; wet from the sudden cloud burst that this rotation of the planet brings…
shoots, springtime, porltand blogger,
I think if I could curl up and crawl into a story book I would have to choose one from either Beatrix Potter
Or Elsa Beskow. Both ladies have such a touch for vivid, tiny life…

Speaking of artists, I was asked by a very neat company called Minted to write a review. They are an online resource for independently designed products such as stationary, gift wrap, stickers, notebooks, calenders and even fabric. The cool part about this site is that they promote individuals as the designers. It is a unique format where anyone can submit a design and then their work is voted on by the Minted community. Winners will see their designs available through the site. I love stuff like this, such a fun way for unknown artists to show their work.
I liked the hand-done, vintage feel of their new wedding invitation selection
So many tasteful, simple designs…
I highly recommend you check them out…
Send some designs in and leave a link here so I can vote YES!!!

Anyway, sending all my best to all you lovely ones out there.

                                                                Happy spring!

Easter…

Easter day was calm and quiet. We had planned on having a few hungry participants, but last minute sent out a cancellation text—there are too few days of us just being home… Lucky for us, we had started cooking early, before the decision to say nay to a party. This led to a privet feast and and an afternoon of the third Hobbit movie. Too bad it was all battle field. We ate cake for dinner and had an early to bed. Not shabby for an Easter Sunday...

                                            Hope Everyone is Well!!

                                                           Cheers

Easter Planning…

Easter is coming and this will we the first time I am not planning to bake a million pies. In years past, Easter was just another word for giant pie making day. But alas, with a pie truck as my daily post, I don't wish to spend my Sunday pie-baking. I have been racking my brain and haven't yet decided upon our Easter menu, but I believe it will include some sort of roast beast, carrot cake, cobbler and most definitely hot cross buns!

Have you an Easter plan?

                                       Cheers, and Happy Springtime
