Several weeks ago we managed a day trip up to Mount Saint Helens.
We curled our way through the Washington forests until we reached this most impressive volcanic world…
We did a short trek through one of the lava tunnels where the temperature stays an even forty-two degrees—a most wonderful break from the ninety plus weather we had been enduring above ground...

What a relief to be far, far away from the city, even if I do love the city we now live in...
We picnicked by a stream that ran straight down from the mountain…
The water is still filled with ash from when Saint Helens blew in the early eighties...
The kids had a great time...
Barefoot in the wet volcanic sand...
What a lovely day...
Cheers to Everyone ~
