We packed a lot into day one. First we had a wonderful breakfast with a couple of very good friends.
Followed by heading down to Hawthorn's street fair to meet up with yet another very
good friend and his daughter… 
The madness of busy Hawthorn was enough to make anybodies head spin...
Eventually we came upon Voodoo Donut's pink truck, causing the kids to promptly ordered giant donuts in spite of their overly stuffed stomachs from breakfast…
Next we walked down to Sunny Side school/park where the kids had a chance to romp a bit…
And we were able to talk/hear each other instead of squeezing single file through Hawthorn's swarming throngs…

On our way to back to our car I snuck in a few clicks with my camera.
I love all the wonderful front yards and houses that make up this area of Portland…
The hydrangeas were incredible…
Our next stop was Powell's Book. A bookstore so large it takes up a whole city block.
The kids were thrilled!!!!

Our evening wrapped up at Cathedral Park...
Where you could hear the rumbling of the cars skimming across the bridge…
And the kids had yet another chance for romping….
Finally the evening light grew dim as we stood on the parks mini dock...
What a wonderful first day!!
